Happy Christmas Eve Eve, or Merry Festivus to all you Seinfeld fans. As we crawl another inch closer to the big day we choose to celebrate with the boys from Lowestoft in The Darkness.

The single was released in 2003 and entered a hotly contested race for that year’s Christmas number one but got narrowly beaten to the spot by a Gary Jules cover of the Tears for Fears classic ‘Mad World’. The Darkness were at #1 all week and lost out on Saturday sales in one of the closest battles for Christmas #1 of recent years.

What a nice time that was back when the songs contesting for Christmas #1 weren’t anything from The X Factor. What a time to be alive it was indeed.
