Justin Bieber has been arrested in Florida accused of driving under the influence and drag racing. It is understood that the singer is still in custody after failing a breathalyser test.
The 19-year-old pop star was detained by the Miami Beach Police Department early Thursday morning. Bieber was racing in the streets in a yellow Lamborghini.
The arrest comes a week after police searched his Los Angeles home, following allegations he had thrown eggs at his neighbours house. During the search, illegal substances were found.
A Miami Dade-Police spokesman told WSVN in South Florida that two cars were seen racing by officers at 4.09am.
It was reported that two other cars had been used to block off traffic on Pine Tree Drive at 26th Street, creating a drag strip. The street itself is a residential area with homes, a high school, a youth centre and a fire station.
The Canadian singer is to be transported to the Miami-Dade County jail.
Bieber was charged with painting graffiti on a wall on Brazil last year. He was also asked to remove graffiti he left on the wall of a hotel in Australia.
The driver of the second car, a red Ferrari, was also arrested. Police impounded both cars.
