It has been reported that rapper Chief Keef, real name Keith Cozart, is in police custody after a shooting that took place in suburban Northfield, near Chicago.
TMZ has reported that the shooting took place early Wednesday morning at a house rented by Keef’s manager. The incident – according to local police – has left a person in intensive care.
Keef’s lawyer has said that the rapper was not responsible for the shots fired, but was in fact present at the time of the shooting. Other reports have stated the opposite, that Keef was in fact the shooter. It’s still not clear whether or not he will be charged. What is known is that Keef was apparently a passenger in the vehicle that dropped off the victim at NorthShore Skokie Hospital overnight.
Keef is known for recent problems with the law, such as failed drug tests and earlier arrests. On Monday, he posted a number of pictures with guns and money to his instagram page, one of which included the caption “Another Situation. Already.”
According to Chicago Tribune, Northfield police have stated that the incident remains under investigation.
