Blink-182 guitarist Tom DeLonge has confirmed that the band have concrete plans to release a follow-up to 2011’s Neighborhoods.
Taking to Instagram to announce the news, DeLonge uploaded a picture of the band’s current line-up – himself, bassist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker – in their youth, with the caption: “Rehearsals start today… And yes there will be a new album #SorryForTheWait #Blink.”
Back in April, Hoppus revealed on Twitter that,“Travis and I have waited for Blink-182 to get back into the studio this past year”, prompting implications that DeLonge was the delaying factor in the recording of their upcoming seventh full-length album.
As of yet, there are no further details regarding the album’s release date or title.
The band are set to headline this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals alongside headliners Arctic Monkeys, Paramore and Queens of the Stone Age. These slots are to be preceded by two sold-out warm up shows at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on the 6th and 8th of August.
