Girls’ Generation have just celebrated their seven year anniversary together as a group with the release of the compilation album The Best, a musical itinerary stashed with the hits that have made them the global phenomenon that they are today. For anyone who purchases a copy of the album from a Famima brand store, however, The Best comes with an exciting bonus – an unreleased gem entitled ‘Chain Reaction’ that was originally demoed by none other than glitzy party popper Ke$ha.
Although it’s not the first time a Ke$ha demo track has been given a K-pop twist by the formidable nine piece – their Gaon chart-topping single ‘Run Devil Run’ originated during the recording sessions for her debut album Animal before being dismissed and passed off to Girls’ Generation – ‘Chain Reaction’ is perhaps the most timely of the two, with its slick futuristic pop sound serving as an ample closer for their Mr. Mr. mini-album cycle.
UK residents can purchase Girls’ Generation’s The Best (sadly devoid of ‘Chain Reaction’) from the iTunes store and other good online retailers. In the meantime, you can listen to the track above and check out the original demo version by Ke$ha below for comparison:
