Within three days the Purple One has managed to reel in over 48,000 followers and has uploaded eighty eight pictures including performance stills, promotional shoots, magazine covers and the odd meme.
Prince has a complicated relationship with the online world – in 2010 he formally said that the internet is “completely over,” 2014 saw him delete his Twitter and Facebook accounts, and earlier on in the year, the singer took legal action to make sure his entire back-catalogue including new album, Hit n Run, wouldn’t appear online, instead streaming exclusively via Jay Z’s streaming service, Tidal. However he has recently become active on Twitter again, and this has now extended over to Instagram. It seems even royalty aren’t immune to the social media bug.
