The next series of The Voice in January will be the last to air on the BBC after the broadcaster lost the bidding war to keep the show. The long running singing competition is to move to an unknown network but it is rumoured that ITV have ‘poached’ the show.
ITV originally lost the bidding war four years ago after the BBC paid £20 million for the rights to the talent show however afterwards the broadcaster came under fire by the government saying the show was a waste of tax payer’s money.
Viewers speculate where the future lies for rival ITV show the X Factor which has faced criticism after revitalising the judging panel with Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw and former the voice judge Rita Ora and also replacing long running host Dermot O’Leary with Olly Murs & Caroline Flack.
The X Factor has also faced a ratings slump during its first live shows – reportedly being beaten by Antiques Roadshow and losing four million viewers to strictly come dancing.
The final series of The Voice will air next January with the addition of Paloma Faith and Boy George on the Judging Panel.
