ALBUM: PATHWAYS EP
LABEL: SHOGUN AUDIO
RELEASE DATE: 29 JANUARY 2016
Introducing the EP with ‘Pathways’, Ed:it shows the wide variety of beats he can produce. After releasing EPs before and having a wide success with them, the four songs on this EP have been another test to see if it will produce the same success as the previous ones.
Throughout the four tracks, there are similar elements, and in fact, in every track, you see very similar things to the track before. So this begs the question, why do that? Certain electronic beats are recognisable everywhere and it’s almost as if the artist couldn’t create any other beat.
Listening to the EP leads no interest at all. The song ‘Night Creeper’ features the artist Linguistics, but even with a featuring artist who mutters the occasional harmony, there really isn’t anything in this EP.
The creation of the beats is interesting and it’s great to know we have that type of creation within the industry, however, it’s just not enough.
As an artist who has had success in the past, Ed:it should have added more to this set of tracks. Add featuring artists, change the beats in different tracks and maybe even add in some actual instrumentation, then maybe this EP could be classed as good. But for now it’s just not good enough.
