ALBUM: I DON’T OWE THE WORLD A THING EP
LABEL: SELF RELEASED
RELEASE DATE: 5 FEBRUARY 2016
By kicking off the E.P with the track ‘Shadow’, Lacey have instantly grabbed your attention with the powerful lyrics and tasty guitars. Throughout the five track EP, you can see your typical features within an alternative rock band with regards to their music, but this band has something different about them.
The most interesting thing about the four-piece band is that a number of publications have mentioned about their astonishment on how the band hasn’t been signed to a major record label yet. It’s hard to not agree with them to be honest. The fact that the Nottingham born and bred band has attracted some attention recently is encouraging. Currently on Bowling for Soup’s UK tour as special guests means that they’re able to not only play their new music, but to also play in front of new fans.
Taking influences from bands such as Lonely The Brave, Funeral For A Friend, Jimmy Eat World and Taylor Swift, the band has been able to produce an EP that brings all of these influences together. From the last track on the EP being a piano based ballad to the first track being a rock track that gets your feet tapping, it’s an interesting idea to have this type of EP out there for everyone to see.
After listening to the EP several times, you can see why they’re on the tour as they’ve been able to consistently produce good music for several years. Even if you’re not a fan of the band or the alternative rock genre, just have a quick listen and to your surprise you might find you’re slightly addicted to the guitar riffs the band’s use as intro’s.
